Quotes
A phone quote is built from your description of the car. It's an offer to buy that car in that condition, and it holds if the driver finds what you described when he pulls up.
If the car turns out to be different in a way that matters, say the converter has been cut off or the engine is sitting on the ground beside it, the driver can revise the offer on the spot. You're free to turn down a revised offer, and you won't owe a tow fee for the trip.
Proof You Own It
Selling to us means you're telling us the car is yours to sell, or that the owner has authorized you, and that you've told us about any lien on it. At pickup the driver needs to see a photo ID and the title, or the ownership paperwork Florida accepts in its place.
Transfers follow Chapter 319 of the Florida Statutes. If ownership can't be shown, the car stays where it is and nobody gets paid.
Getting the Car Ready
It's on you to make the car reachable and to clear it with whoever controls the property, including a landlord or an HOA. Take your belongings out before the truck comes. Anything left in the glovebox after the sale goes with the car.
Pull the license plate before the tow. In Florida the plate stays with you, not with the vehicle. Cancelling your insurance and filing the notice of sale with FLHSMV are also yours to do once the car is sold.
Payment
You're paid by the driver at pickup, after the bill of sale is signed. Payment goes to the person named on the title or to someone that person has authorized in writing.
Limits
Every car is bought as-is. Once it's signed over and on the truck heading toward Tavares, the sale is final and can't be reversed. The pages on this site are general guidance offered in good faith, not legal advice.
